BEEF NOODLES @ OLD SWEE KEE

Old Swee Kee 老瑞记 is located at the beginning of Seah Street, opposite Raffles Hotel. I was quite surprised to see a beef noodles stall inside, since Old Swee Kee is famous for its hainanese chicken rice. I saw some old wall posters of the old blanco court beef noodles stall. I wonder if there is any connection.

Anyhow, I ordered a bowl of dry beef noodles. There were sliced salted vegetables and grounded peanuts toppings. The noodles were well cooked and not too soggy. The gravy was not too thick and salty. With the aroma of sesame oil, the noodles and gravy mixture was tasty. The beef slices were tender and when dipped with the sambal belacan chilli plus cencalok (fermented tiny shrimp sauce)....so delicious! The soup was good too.
